Analysis
Facebook's weighted reach among German online users aged 30-49 and 50+ ran at roughly 10.3–10.6%, more than twice the 4.6–4.7% recorded for 18-29 year-olds — a 2.2× gap that showed no sign of closing across three quarters of observation.
A demographic structure, not a drift
The data captures a durably older-skewed user base, not a platform in the middle of a demographic transition. This picture aligns with broader European trends: Germany and comparable Western European markets have among the highest shares of older Facebook users globally. Globally, every age cohort above 35 has been growing its share of Facebook's audience since 2022, while every cohort under 25 has been declining. For German marketers, this means Facebook's older skew is structural — campaigns targeting 30+ audiences find an audience that is genuinely present, while youth-oriented strategies face a structural deficit that video-heavy formats alone cannot close.

Methodology
Reach is measured as the share of active German online users in each age band — 18-29, 30-49, and 50+ — who were observed using Facebook during the respective period. Two periods are compared: Q4 2025 (October–December 2025) and Q2 2026 (April–June 2026). Figures are calibrated to reflect the German online population within each age group.
