Analysis
In Q2 2026, German Facebook users aged 50+ registered the highest average number of feed-scroll events per session, outpacing both the 30-49 and 18-29 age bands. The 50+ cohort also visits more frequently, compounding their overall feed exposure.
Depth, not just reach
This browsing intensity among older users has direct implications for content planning: the 50+ audience on Facebook is not a passive presence — they scroll further into the feed per sitting and return more often. This aligns with global patterns showing strong daily usage of Facebook among adults aged 50-64. Combined with the platform's structural older skew documented in the Facebook age reach data, it means that older German Facebook users are both more likely to be present and more likely to encounter any given piece of content within a session. Advertisers and publishers targeting this demographic have a deeper and more consistent feed window than younger age groups provide.

Methodology
Sessions were defined by a 30-minute idle-gap rule applied to each user's feed activity timestamps on Facebook in Germany during Q2 2026 (April–June). For each user, the average number of feed posts scrolled per session was calculated, then averaged within the three age groups: 18-29, 30-49, and 50+. This is a within-platform behavioral metric among active users, not a population projection.
