Analysis

The 45–54 age band leads GLP-1 weight-loss search interest in Germany in both August 2025 and August 2026, reflecting a cohort that is most likely to face clinically relevant overweight and is actively researching treatment options — including the incoming Wegovy pill and established injectables like Ozempic.

Why midlife leads, and where growth is fastest

Obesity prevalence in Germany rises steeply through middle age, making the 45–54 cohort the natural core audience for Wegovy and semaglutide pricing searches. But the most notable year-over-year shift belongs to the 18–24 group, which recorded the fastest relative growth from a small base — a pattern also visible in UK GLP-1 uptake data, where oral formats are accelerating access among younger adults who resist injectable treatments. The Abnehmmedikament-Interesse-nach-Altersgruppe picture suggests that the oral Wegovy tablet launching 1 September 2026 may disproportionately broaden reach into younger German adults. For the gender dimension behind these figures, see women's 2.5× higher search rate.

Methodology

The search-interest rate for each age band is the share of adults in that group who were active German online searchers querying GLP-1 weight-loss terms in August 2025 or August 2026. Rates are calibrated to the German adult online population (18+) and weighted to reflect demographic composition. Cross-band ranking is the primary signal; the oldest group (65+) is directional due to a smaller sample.
