Analysis
Among verified German buyers in H1 2026, IKEA purchasers were 12.5× more likely to have engaged with an affiliated TikTok creator in the 30 days before their purchase than a comparable TikTok-active user who did not buy — a striking signal for a category that rarely tops influencer purchase conversion rate rankings.
Why Home Decor Outpaces Beauty and Food
The home furnishings category is highly considered: purchases are infrequent, aspirational, and research-heavy, so a single creator video can be decisive in a way that a food snack recommendation simply cannot. IKEA has invested systematically in TikTok creator partnerships in Germany since launching its dedicated channel in April 2023, with a campaign strategy built around affiliated interior and lifestyle creators. TikTok Shop launched in Germany in March 2025 and reached over 25,000 active sellers within a year, accelerating the link between creator content and in-store or online conversion across all categories. Fashion (SHEIN, 2.9×) and fitness (ESN, 2.3×) follow, while beauty (dm-drogerie-markt) and food (Haribo) show weaker over-indexes despite the highest absolute touch rates — their creator ecosystems are so large they already saturate ordinary TikTok feeds. Methodology
Purchase conversion rate data covers German online shoppers with verified TikTok activity and purchase history from January 2026 to June 2026. The over-index compares the share of category buyers (first purchase of the respective brand in H1 2026) who watched or followed an affiliated TikTok creator in the 30 days before their purchase against the share of all TikTok-active users who engaged with the same affiliated creators during a reference window in May–June 2026. Affiliated creators are those with a statistically confirmed brand association in the matching category niche. Median touchpoints were used rather than mean values because activity levels were heavily skewed by a small number of high-frequency viewers. Figures represent the behavior of this specific purchaser cohort rather than population-level estimates for Germany.
