Methodology

The share of World Cup-themed marketing emails was measured daily across a panel of active German email users from May 1 to June 16, 2026. An email was classified as World Cup-themed if its subject line contained any of the following terms: WM, Weltmeister, World Cup, Fußball, Fussball, FIFA, Anpfiff, or Football. Only emails classified as marketing messages were included; transactional and pending emails were excluded. The daily metric is the share of World Cup-themed messages among all marketing emails received on a given day. The 7-day rolling average smooths day-to-day fluctuations to reveal underlying trends.
