# Share of Amazon.de Shoppers Buying Travel Items in Germany — January 2025 to April 2026 > 5.4% of active Amazon.de shoppers bought at least one travel item in July 2025 — dropping below 3% by winter **Period:** Jan 2025 – Apr 2026 **Market:** DE **Data status:** final **Data as of:** 2026-04-29T11:54:38.021352+00:00 **Sample size:** n = 7,717 **Source:** [https://www.datapods.app/en/insights/consumption/product-categories/amazon-travel-shopper-reach-germany-2025-sommerferien](https://www.datapods.app/en/insights/consumption/product-categories/amazon-travel-shopper-reach-germany-2025-sommerferien) ## Segments - **Years:** 2025–2026 - **Platform:** amazon ## Summary In July 2025, **5.38%** of all active Amazon.de shoppers placed at least one order in a travel category — luggage, sun protection, snorkel gear, powerbanks, or similar — marking the annual high. Buyer reach peaks one month later than pure order-share (Chart 0), reflecting stragglers from the staggered summer holiday windows: Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg begin holidays on 31 July and 1 August respectively, extending the purchasing tail into July. ## The summer holiday packing window, decoded by buyer type The May (4.6%), June (5.1%), July (5.4%) surge corresponds precisely to the sequential start of school summer holidays across Germany's 16 Bundesländer. In 2025, all 16 states overlapped for the first week of August — meaning the active buying window stretches a full six weeks. Autumn half-term and pre-Easter periods produce only mild upticks. Winter months (December 2025 – January 2026) fall below 3%, confirming that travel accessories are genuinely discretionary and tightly holiday-linked rather than year-round essentials on Amazon.de. For brands targeting Sommerurlaub preparation, the May–July window is the decisive activation period for travel accessories in Germany. ## Chart Line chart showing the monthly share of active Amazon.de shoppers in Germany who placed at least one travel-category order, from January 2025 to April 2026. The y-axis shows buyer reach in percent; the x-axis shows calendar months. The line peaks at 5.4% in July 2025 and falls below 3% in December 2025 and January 2026. Shaded bands highlight the pre-Sommerferien and holiday-overlap packing windows. ## Methodology The buyer reach metric counts, for each calendar month, the share of active German Amazon.de shoppers who placed at least one order in a travel-related product category. The denominator is all shoppers who placed any Amazon.de order with a valid product identifier that month; the numerator is those shoppers who also had at least one order in the 42-category travel taxonomy (luggage, sun protection, snorkel/dive, tents and sleeping bags, travel accessories, guidebooks, international power adapters, powerbanks). Because numerator and denominator are drawn from the same monthly active-shopper base, the metric is unaffected by the overall growth in panel size over the observation window (January 2025 – April 2026). Shaded bands in the chart highlight the main packing windows before German school summer holiday clusters. ## Citation Datapods (2026-04-29). *Share of Amazon.de Shoppers Buying Travel Items in Germany — January 2025 to April 2026*.
