Datapods' mission is to empower individuals by giving them control and ownership over their personal data, transforming it from a commodity exploited by big tech into a valuable asset that users can manage, understand, and share on their terms. We're building a future where data privacy and personal agency aren't just ideals but practical realities for everyone.

What We Do

Datapods offers a platform that empowers users to regain control over their personal data through a user-friendly app. Our app enables individuals to easily request, manage, and understand the data collected about them by various services, enhancing transparency and control. By facilitating access to and oversight of personal data, Datapods ensures that users can exercise their rights under data protection laws, such as the GDPR, more effectively including the ability to correct or delete their data.

Beyond individual data management, Datapods pioneers in reshaping the data economy by facilitating a platform that empowers users to offer access to their data for research purposes. This initiative allows individuals to consciously share specific segments of their personal information, upon their consent, with entities engaged in research. By providing such targeted access, Datapods is committed to building a transparent and equitable data ecosystem.

We've built Datapods to be your digital ally, giving you the power to view, manage and even share your data in a way that's secure and straightforward. Think of it as decluttering your digital life and putting you back in the driver's seat. Datapods is all about making the complex world of data easier to use and putting control back where it belongs - with you.

Our Core Values Convictions

  1. Users should hold a monopoly over their data.

    Individuals should exclusively control and possess the rights to their personal data. They alone can decide how and by whom their information is used.
  2. Data-driven innovations can improve the world.

    Ethical access to high-quality data can help tackle local and global challenges, by enabling research and development.

    When it comes to your data, you should trust no one. This is why we've designed Datapods in a way that prioritizes transparency.

Who we are

We are a Team of four Co-Founders from Bonn with the ambitious Goal to reshape the european data economy. We've been working on this since Autumn 2023.
We've been working together for a while. In 2019, we co-founded the Bonn university student association Science to Startup e.V., aiming to promote Bonn's startup scene. We reached a total of over 3000 students through our events.

Now, the four of us are focusing on our new project, Datapods. Over the past year, we have been accepted into the Digitalhub Bonn Accelerator Program and received support from the Entrepreneurial Talents Program at the University of St. Gallen as well as the Generate Mentorship Program at the London School of Economics.

Recently, we were one of 20 teams selected from over 280 applicants to participate in the final of the T-Challenge by Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile US. With Datapods, we won the "Most Customer Centric Solution" award and a prize of 50,000€.


Lukas Stein

With a background in economics from the London School of Economics and the University of Bonn, Lukas does everything from markets to marketing at Datapods.

Jakob Endler

Jakob worked as a Data Engineer at Deutsche Telekom and DHL for 5 years before starting Datapods. He studied Computer Science and Telecommunications at HTWK Leipzig.

Finn Rübo

A law student of the European Business School in Wiesbaden, Finn deals primarily with data protection and data access legislation at Datapods. His experience includes time at the German Monopoly Commission aswell as Taylor Wessing.

David Goldschmidt

Having worked at KPMG and studied at University of St. Gallen and HEC Paris, David has aquired a broad skillset across finance and management to drive Datapods forward.
